I used to work at Lackland a few years ago. The neighborhoods around the base are sketchy as fuck. There were two incidents of shootings right outside the gates that put the base into lockdown while I was there, just regular gangbangers doing their thing. I'll bet this was the same thing, but it was close enough to the gate that a guard decided to open fire this time.

If anybody wanted to get onto that base, there are much easier ways than through the gates.
