World War II movies often make out that there were only a scattered few brave Germans who stood up to Hitler; all other Germans are portrayed as either being complicit or cowed.
Turns out that wasn't true. Similar to America today, there were many Germans who hated their leader and tried to protest.
What I find so depressing is that they failed so completely. I truly hope that today's good Americans are more successful. I'm not optimistic.
