As I was imagining it, an app would indicate they support a specific purpose, such as a hero image. They’re free to define the name of the purpose and specify any additional requirements regarding dimensions, aspect ratios, file formats, etc. As always, apps aren’t beholden to bend over backwards to support whatever’s thrown at them. Participating hosts could implement a "Hero image" UI with just a file uploader, no other user-facing inputs.
