yes, although the Iranian regime has been known to force gay men to undergo transition and at a societal level things are not particularly good, and the particular brand of Islam there is, well, problematic where trans identity is concerned.

But it is definitely a bit rich for the UK and US to condemn Persian culture and society outright for what the current Iranian regime is doing after we fucked the country up with the previous Shah regime, while I go to work with a Team Leader who himself is Persian (ancestrally) and frankly couldn't give a shit whether anyone on his team is religious or not, is trans, cis, gay, straight, Muslim, Zoroastrian, Christian or is the Devil Himself!
