I understand the simplicity of the base 10 numerical system. After all, we have ten fingers and ten toes. But, we divide time into 24 hours, and organize a year into four seasons of three months each, making these base 12 systems.

Snowflakes have six points, but starfish have five. Twelve is the Biblical number of perfection, which is why the number of the elect is symbolically a multiple of twelve. Jesus chose twelve Disciples. There were twelve tribes of Israel.

Yet, also there were 40 days and 40 nights of the flood, and the time of Jesus' testing was 40 days, both base 10.

I can't decide which numbering system makes more sense, naturally.
