I'm thinking there are a lot of times where you would really want an operator there (ex. someone on the track or a weird bug happens).
I'm sure there are things that can be done to make their job easier, like a sort-of autopilot system. But do we really want that? That's just going to be used as a justification to pay them lower pay, and those come with their own bugs.
