Until my preferred Windows Manager stable supports Wayland its a dead end for me. Pretty sure thats the same for a lot of folk.
And of course there are the BSD's to consider. As far as I know Wayland is completely incompatible with them. So they have to have a path forward with either X11 or the Wayland developers need to put in the work.
