I mean this literally. I should be allowed to film my property, ESPECIALLY for the sake of protection. No permission. Full stop. However that surveillance tape cannot be used by the state for any purpose (initiated by the state). I should also be allowed to share the footage of harm to myself or my property.

Totally different argument. Lets align on that plane.

Saying that every camera comes with mass surveillance as a prerequisite is a problem with the laws around the equipment and installation. Ban the state from using the footage. If your arguing legislation is the lever here, that's where it should be pulled. Stop aiming legislation at the individual and start aiming it at the state.
