My personal view is that the only really effective thing we can do, is to make students understand how much they are engaging in self-harm and self-sabotage, if they use GenAI to write essays. As one of my colleagues recently said, you don’t take a fork lift into the gym to lift the weights for you. The point is not to ensure that the weights are lifted but to build muscle yourself.
