And to somewhat respond to the various comments below, my reason for doing this was pedagogical. I will never be able to force them to read those articles. I am also not planning to use those reading lists as evidence for academic misconduct. What I can do, is use them as an indicator for whether or not students have used the relevant legal search engines and then have a conversation about this with them, if it looks like they have not. Everything else is still the student’s own responsibility.
