Funny enough I usually hear the complete opposite. I'm personally a recent hater of Debian in comparison to RH and rh-adjacent products.

I've tried to get people on fedora desktop and they keep going back to ubuntu desktops. In my experience ubuntu works best out of the box on hardware for desktop use. Debian its is just too freaking old. It lacks a ton of hardware support, packages are years outdated and lack features, especially security upgrades. Desktops environments and graphics move really fast and even ubuntu can be so behind it doesn't support modern software, you need to build a new kernel yourself. Arguably Canonical does a better job at hardware support and getting more modern features into Ubuntu that aren't available in Debian base.
