The social media figure “Rathbone” became (*or always has been*) a horrible antisemite. Not sure how many people here are familiar with his videos, but I must admit that a few years back I liked them. They were often provocative and didn't speak too kindly on Israel's actions, using words like “apartheid”, “imperialism”, “zionism”, etc. The account didn't influence me on my knowledge of these terms, the books I read and my political activism did, but it certainly popped up once or twice on my feed.
Yet when I saw another video of his last year, I checked out the rest of his videos and they're mostly beyond conspiratorial. Just a day ago, he uploaded a video outright denying the holocaust. It's all indirect, of course, but it's an AI generated slop story about pizza bakers not being able to “make” 6 million “pizzas“ because they don't even have that many *ovens*, yet they have enough “sauce” to make ~700.000 (etc.). If you know the discourse, you know these dogwhistles. I've just seen tweets by his that wash the term antisemitism or pretend it isn't real. He speaks of “the great noticing” (*noticing “the jews” are in control*), or uses more indirect statements like saying Netanyahu runs America, and so on and so forth. There's nothing profound about this, there's no twist where this is some joke to expose how ridiculous antisemites sound, this is “Rathbone”, and he uses left-wing language to mask his far right antisemitic ideas.
