The answer to all of this is to keep a wary, but limited eye on the rest of the world, but put all of the rest of your focus on the communities that matter to you - your family, your friends, your neighbors.

Your job is a shitty community,. I'm certain your co-workers are awesome people. You work cooperatively and collaboratively with them, but are also expected to compete against them for promotions, etc.

Imagine if you could all just... do your jobs and not worry about that shit.
