I've been trying to follow on the OpenStreetMap (npub1are…fcch) outage and, while I agree that the OSMF operates on a «shoestring budget» (I'm a former board member of the OSMF, I did see the numbers myself), we must be aware that this has another implication:
The ratio of "value that OSMF provides to society" to "OSMF budget" is amazing. Astounding. Flabbergasting.
Please keep this in mind next time anyone claims that a privately-owned company is the best way to provide value.
