One of the maxims I work by is
Everything will cost at least twice as much as budgeted.
It will take at least twice as long to do as originally planned.
And will only be half as successful as envisaged.
Never surprised when all or part of that happens. As evidence I offer HS2
interested if anybody else has home spun rules of life
