This was made not long after 1975's "Survivors" about those left behind after a man-made virus wipes out 99.9% of humanity. (The 2008 remake was pretty good.)

I remember a scene in the original where someone says, "Would you be able to make a table?"
– "I could probably knock something together."
– "But what happens when the last saw-blade has work out? Could you mine the ore? Smelt it? Make it into a tool?"

We underestimate how dependent we are on complex systems.
