That's what I keep running into. And people keep thinking that the equipment will last that long anyway. At least until electric gets to ~$0.45/kw and equipment and installation remains the price that it is. Equipment might have gotten better, but batteries still fail, (i consume quite a bit more power than average, so Id need a ton of storage) inverters fail, and panels degrade and eventually need replacement. They need to be cleaned regularly etc.
It still goes, if electric is more expensive in your area, you can install yourself and consider your time free, and get a discount on equipment, like used, or surplus then it could be worth it.
