Humans don't even want freedom/liberty. They want health, prosperity, happiness and safety.
The assumption is that liberty gives us all of that or at least that it can. All the things we want are down (world wide aggregate) since The Enlightenment told us we wanted liberty and we began to reach for it.
The truth is if you don't have a basic minimum of those four, you'll trade all you liberty for as much of them as you can get.
The more a society has libertarian freedom, the less health, prosperity, happiness and safety it's members have on aggregate. Bigger winners, more loosers. BTC is merely the hope that I get to be a winner in this cycle.
Be optimistic. Because BTC will fix a lot of things. It won't fix them with Enlightenment principals.
