A coworker/friend of mine had a number of serious food allergies. I saw her a decade later and she said "I wish I'd never started this, now, almost everything is on my allergy list."
The problem is, did she have any choice? If certain food items are making you sick, you have to eliminate them!
I also saw firsthand, how difficult it was to evaluate foods at restaurants. Where something you are allergic to might be in a spice or additive.
