I meant, here, one of the kids (traditionally eldest son) never moves out; their spouse moves in to the family house and he buys the "inheritance portions" of the other kids, when the parents die, and then the house is his. This is in return for taking care of the parents and their home, in old age.
It's a multigenerational model because there are a lot of farms and small businesses around here, and the houses are often large or contain multiple apartments.
