Hiking Mt Adams part 3. We're on the East side of the Cascades here so the forests are quite a bit more open and drier than on the Western slopes, mostly hemlock and a few lodgepole pines are starting to appear. Flowers along the way include high mountain cinquefoil (Potentilla flabellifolia) and spreading phlox (Phlox diffusa).
