I didn't realize how much I care about this as an adaptation of the source material, but here's the thing: when the source material is ancient epic poetry from a culture so unlike our own, I think it is completely reasonable to expect at bare minimum that the adaptation would be wild & weird & rather unsettling.
Again, Sam Raimi could have made a better Odyssey.
