My dog Charlie and I were outside one morning watching the birds. As you know, Charlie has a way of making bird‑watching interesting, though he usually settles beside my chair, and with a little patience the birds start coming around. This morning, I noticed there were no goldfinches — maybe they’ve moved on for the season, or maybe they’ll show up later. This photo is of an American Goldfinch I photographed some time before.
