I have relatives whose only contact for decades has been asking if I forgive them yet every few years.

In all that time it has never occurred to them to even fake an apology.

I think I've said I'm sorry to my kids more times this week than I heard from parents and grandparents combined in my life.

As for me, I understand that society was not equipped to deal with children like me back then. I'm still not going to just let people who still treat me like they did back then back into my life today.

You can make space for me to be me or I can by excluding you from my life.
