On your point of it having taken 3.5 years to fix AND bitcoin hasn't died in those 3.5 years, why did bitcoin decide to die on exactly last saturday due to this 3.5 year old problem?
Maybe, just maybe, because it wasnt an URGENT enough problem that it required a RUSHED, contentious, "defend against existential threat"-level soft-fork?
