Having watched the Section 31 movie shortly after it dropped, I now find myself on social media looking at reviews from people who have watched the movie.
A lot of the negative reviews on social media talk about the lack of Star Trek lore in the movie. Does every Star Trek movie need to be steeped in deep Star Trek lore? I think some people went into this movie expecting something very specific and were therefore disappointed. I went in with no expectations and found myself enjoying the ride (I didn't even watch any of the trailers).
Reading the fan reviews on social media, you will see a post from someone who hated it (I've even seen some posts from people saying the movie was so bad that they couldn't finish watching it). And then right after that review you see a post from someone who loved it. It seems to be one extreme or the other for the people who have seen the movie so far.
We are all entitled to our opinions. Just some observations on this early Friday morning.
