You speak of, and for, many. And many of those ARE becoming mentally ill because of it and have to step away for the sake of their own sanity. I speak personally.
It is hard not to conclude its part of the collateral damage of inhumanity and war. Yet whilst human beings are attracted to leaders and do not take up and use the power in their own hands this is what we are left with.
