I mean, even just choosing to stop worrying about it as a whole and to focus on yourself and your family still maintains progress. Bearing in mind that when sourcing provisions it's still better to support your local surroundings.

It's definitely true that you can't just be all focused on making things better for everyone all the time and that if something's gotta give you should be focused on the which is closest to you. I think this is what communism and most socialism misses, and it's why I sort of buy Richard Poe's theory that communism was created as a weapon to weaken enemies. In any system it is best for the part to focus on its tasks, rather than worry about the whole system itself. Maintaining decentralized systems does sometimes ask us to think about knock on effects because we can't outsource that task to a central overseer, but even in such things it's often 'find the pinciples that work and then just worry about doing them yourself.'

Sort of like how once I've figured out my node's relay policy I don't need to run around policing everyone else's...
