Oh and by "privilege" I think I mean maturity, understanding, fortitude, self control, commitment, etc. Stuff I'm not sure can really be taught. I think it's idealisict to assume you can have none of those things before entering marriage and they will come and people will have enough of those virtues to grow in their commitment together.

I suppose there is also the garden of Eden side to this argument too.
