These are both very fundamental fears of loss... It took a long time for my grandfather to give up his driver's license and that was only after my mother insisted he do so, before an accident could occur. Fortunately, my parents are much more realistic about this...they know they won't be driving for much longer. It’s a real advantage if parents have spent their whole lives getting around using public transport and not only by car.
Death frightens so many people. Unfortunately, it is no longer a subject that has a place in our society. Older people often prefer to suffer and take medication rather than leave their body and simply let go. If we were to understand that death is the same as birth, a space of both nothingness and everything, we would be more neutral to death.
