I only go down to mostly just oatmeal when traveling on foot, but it's augmented with a homemade chocolate protein powder. The rest of the time I also eat dates and mangos, and sometimes black-eyed peas w/ rice. So I do get variety, which I think is important over a long period.

As for what that doctor is saying, he seems to just be repeating things he looked up online which match his diet perspective, and pretending like his medical practice has informed what he's telling you. He's basically reading from one of those clickbait "Top 10 Dangers of Oats" articles. Him being a doctor adds nothing to his credibility for me. Also, many of the things he mentions are overblown or outdated/incorrect.

If you're eating oats they must be organic, or you're being very heavily poisoned. Other than that, oats are one of the safest carbs, maybe second only to white rice (brown rice is high in arsenic).
