How exciting! May I suggest a pollinator-friendly lawn, something that doesn't get taller than roughly 30 cm and can take mowing? Not sure of your soil and sun.
If you want some more guaranteed success, you can use plug plants from e.g. Naturescape. This is what we did on our front lawn to make a pollinator-friendly grass area.
Naturescape also sell seed, which you could use instead of or alongside plugs
