That's a big reason why permissive licenses for an OS don't work imo. Nothing gets pushed back.
That's one reason why Linux became much more successful than any of the BSDs. (Well that and the early 1990s BSDi lawsuit hold up.)
I mean, imagine if nobody had to contribute back to the Linux kernel. Imagine how much hardware support users would lack without paying or even at all! 😬
