I hate it when people don’t commit fully to speaking a different language. Like when I was in foreign language classes, people would always pronounce english words in a foreign sentence as if they were speaking English. They wouldn’t pronounce it how a foreign speaker reading the word would. It sounded so jarring and out of place… Me llamo Bob Piker, me gusto chimichanga!

Also when you’re speaking english, don’t quelch at pronouncing things like an ignorant american, or try too hard to find the proper latin plural form of a word when you can just pluralize it by english convention– cactuses is MORE valid than cacti– you’re speaking english, not latin, dumbass.

By the same token, when you’re typing in english, I think you should use commas to separate thousands, and periods to separate the whole from the fractional part of a number. Number conventions are part of the language. Doing otherwise is just jarring and unclear. When you’re typing in your native language, you’re free to default back to your normal style.
