Drip line under a layer of leaf / grass clipping / woodchip (depends on where it is and what we have to hand).

If we'd known the fall drought was going to be this bad, we probably would have pruned everything down some and covered it with low tunnel ag cloth. Fewer leaves means less evaporative loss. And the low tunnel holds some humidity in and keeps the plants from scorching in the sun.

This is going into the Lessons Learned folder. We're going to be a lot more aggressive early on when the predictions start coming up with 10+ days of no rain.
