Killer*Mule (nprofile…cj4p) Aside from being a safe energy source, a thorium waste sink, we should be building molten salt breeders because at present they are the only working technology that can scale to the amount needed to replace fossil fuels. If we don't have a working alternative in place before the fossil fuels that are economically extractable exhaust, we all starve, so regardless of what you think about global warming this is an issue we need to address. Lastly molten salt breeder reactors would allow us to turn the long term actinides in nuclear waste into fuel, leaving only short term fission products which only have to be kept from the environment for 300 years or so and not the 100,000 to 1,000,000 years that actinides require.
