That's why I recommend friends and family buy one or two laptops NOW that they know can run Linux & google pixel phones that can run Android Open Source Project (AOSP) custom ROMs like grapheneOS.
In a year or two the glut of perfectly good laptops (dumped because of inane Windows 11 requirements) and Google Pixel phones (that will run AOSP without hardware blocks/sabotage) will dwindle and/or get more expensive.
Open source will save you money & open doors #bigtech is nailing shut.
