my mom’s sister was born in 1943, about 12 yrs before #acetaminophen #panadol was invented. she would have been diagnosed autistic these days but because my grandparents were dirt poor ―literally still living in a house with dirt floor― my aunt didn’t, just like neither Mami nor any of my uncles, get the kind of pediatric diagnosis nor care, upper class #autistic Americans got at the time.
