"content": "I really don't like the Signal vs Matrix discourse from people. :neodog_what: It reminds me a lot of the BlueSky vs Mastodon discourse. Either option is a better option than Discord/Telegram the same way either BlueSky/Mastodon are better than Twitter. \n\nI prefer Matrix the same way I prefer Mastodon for its decentralization. I think it's easier to attack and bring down something when it's centralized, either through private equity enshittification, regulation, or hacking. That said, I'm glad people are on BlueSky and I just prefer to bridge the two specifications as much as possible. Same thing with Matrix vs Signal. I think the Matrix spec is immature and has some missing functionality, but I like how the decentralized structure makes it more difficult to take down. Meanwhile I'm happy people use Signal, and I simply opt to bridge the spec to my Matrix server so we can communicate securely.\n\nAnd yes, I see you encrypted XMPP people over there. It reminds me a lot of the BlueSky vs Mastodon discourse. Either option is a better option than Discord/Telegram the same way either BlueSky/Mastodon are better than Twitter.
