Bolt12 is okay, but would have been great 5 years ago.
Today, there are simply better ways to accomplish its goals, and builders are growing tired of the constant flow of new, incompatible payment protocols.
I don't think protocol engineers appreciate the bootstrapping overhead of new payment protocols, and having to continually support the old ones.
Most of the problems Bolt12 tries to solve are not unique to LN, and should not be native to LN anyway.
