When I am unwell or injured, I am a “bad patient” and generally do not want sympathy. I mostly just want to hate the universe until whatever the condition is has subsided.
Do not ask me if I’m okay.
What I will accept in those times is solidarity in hating the universe. If I stub my toe on the bed frame, tell me you’re on your way to go burn down the factory that built it. That might make me feel a bit better. Never ask if I’m okay though.
P.S. my toe is fine and I’m not sick at the moment, this is just a tangent that came up due to a conversation with a friend.
