If we as progressives think it's okay for people to engage in things that are unhealthy to their bodies, like consuming drugs, or sex with lots of bruising, or eating burgers and pizza all the time,
then why are we struggling so much to allow them to engage in things that are _psychologically_ unhealthy?
Because we absolutely do. We disapprove of it, we judge them for it, we blame them for hardship that results from it.
