I started using Markdown for writing, and Obsidian has a threader-plugin that allows you to write all in one document and add a marker for each 500 char paragraph.
Apparantly you can configure it to post to your mastodon account directly from obsidian (I do not use this setup so have never tried it).
(I use it to compose blog posts in quotable "stanzas", an idea I stole from Cory Cory Doctorow (npub1fdr…lvhs) . It really helps me to focus my writing)
