Jokes aside, this is one area that I find Christianity actually proves itself by having an answer.
It's actually relatively simple if you trace things back to Genesis, Eve's interaction with the serpent. Compare that to what you read from God and Adam about her before that. That same serpent has been attempting to divide men and women ever since by lying and twisting the purposes of women in the divine balance of marriage that God instituted. That, combined with later exhortations over a wife of noble character, shows you both the ideal and the corruption.
Divide a king and queen and you destroy entire dynasties.
