> Why didn't Europe in the Christian Golden Age destroy Israel and all the imposter jews in Europe and assert themselves as the real jews?

The Church is, and has always been, Biblical Israel. European kingdoms typically regarded themselves as separate states, yet spiritually-united in Christendom - another name for True Israel. So the idea of Europeans destroying Israel would in their minds have meant literal suicide.

> What is the linguistic view of christian identity that modern jews are imposters?

The current “jewish” community consisted for centuries of the scattered diasporic remnant of the Pharisees and Sadducees - and typically considered themselves as Edomites, accordingly. Their label “jew” derives from having been residents of Judea at the time of Christ. Judea was an ancient kingdom whose name derived from Judah - one of the twelve Tribes of Israel; but it hadn’t been a Traditional ethnic kingdom since the Babylonian Captivity. The label ”Judean“ since then has been much more geographical, than patronymical.
