There are at least two problems with calls for Keir Starmer to make rejoining the EU a priority:
1. its not just us deciding the UK wants to rejoin, we have to negotiate that with an EU that remains sceptical/unconvinced of the UK's commitment to the EU mission;
2. its framed as a way of combating the surge in support for the Green Party of England & Wales; but this repeats the problem of Brexit - seeing EU membership through the lens of domestic political rivalries.
