I've played Arc Raiders a fair bit and I participated in the Marathon beta. Marathon feels pretty terrible to play and there's a ton of subtle environmental/encounter design that it's missing. It would be a big post to list everything but at the end of the day, in Arc you feel like every death is a learning experience of something you could have done different because you generally had lots of warning things were going wrong. In Marathon you generally just die randomly without warning or get overwhelmed by roboniggers in a way that's just sheer retard firepower and like "what am I supposed to do about that???"
