Americans? What's wrong with you? Seriously.
A few days ago, an American woman posted something about warning foreigners to not come to the US as it was unsafe for us.
I know she meant well, but her post reeked of "main character syndrome" something a lot of Americans suffer from. In this case, she basically was warning the NPCs that foreigners are (in many US eyes and minds), because apparently we couldn't figure it out without an American telling us. (or maybe that's because she's clueless about other countries, so she assumed we're also clueless about other countries, including hers?) In any case, she was not giving out a good image.
I replied, as nicely as I could, but also a bit sarcastically, that she didn't need to worry, we were not planning on going anyway. Adding a link showing how travel to the US from Europe has plummeted these past few months.
She replied that as she was a military kid (btw, this is not the flex you think it is with non-Americans) and as her father was on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day so this was not laughing matter.
So I replied to her that as I was a European kid and as my four grandparents lived under Nazi occupation and actually experienced it, I was not joking.
And... She blocked me, I guess. The entire conversation is gone.
