Sorry for the long post, i promise its interesting!
I got into a discussion at work today with a woman in her 50’s and some guys i work with. She works as a project manager at the firm.
We have spoken on several occations before.
Today, in a group of 5 grown ups, me included, we got onto the topic of banking and intrest.
Here is a quote from me:
«Dont you find it strange, that when you go into a bank today to get a morgage. You are not really loaning money right? Its not like its sitting in an account at the bank, and is moved from them to you? Right?
When you get a «loan» today, the money is brand new! Like, it dident exist at all before you went in there. They just wave their wand, and poof, where there was none, there now is plenty»
And they all started laughing in my face. What a moron to think such a thing.
I tried to say «that is acually how it works»
They laughed more.
The woman:
«I am on the board of a bank, thats not how it works. Ofcourse the bank has money»
The four of them almost convinced me i was wrong. I just said.
«I think you need to check some facts about how banking works»
And left. They kept laughing.
This woman tho…
She is acually on the board of a small local bank here in Norway.
And she has no idea how banking works.
As i get older and start to see more of how the world works… like.. how?
How did you get that position?
