My HR went haywire: every time I started even shuffling, it’d shoot straight up, even to 185bpm! I'm happy my heart can still beat this fast (should be ~170 considering my age), but my typical HR on this course should be <160. The rest of the race became a HR management exercise: I basically walked 3/4 of loop 4 and the entire loop 5!
DNF did cross my mind, but I decided to at least finish loop 5 and see.
